I am taking this course for three primary reasons:
- In college, I did an operations project where my team analyzed a wine distributor and recommended some money-saving strategies. This made me interested in the complexities of the wine industry, especially due to US regulations, and I am curious to learn more.
- I have enjoyed traveling to many wine regions during my time at Stanford (Santorini, Central Otago New Zealand, Waiheke Island New Zealand, Maipo Valley Chile, and Sonoma to name a few). I would like to learn more about how these regions came to be known for wine and how the business works in each
- I am returning to PE investing after my time at the GSB, but a long term goal of mine is to transition to be the CEO of a PE-backed company. I have been impressed by Alyssa, and I hope to learn more about her and her career throughout the class as I think about my own career trajectory and how I can develop the skills that I will need to make this pivot. She is also only the second woman I have ever met who is or was a PE-backed CEO, which has made this opportunity to learn from her more unique and exciting. '
