I have been interested in wine since my high school days, when my father and his friends invested in a local wine bar. I would visit from time to time, and it always fascinated me to listen to the discussions my father and his friends would be having regarding the different wines they were tasting (of course I was only an observer at the time, not a taster!).
More recently, I have taken a more active approach to understanding different wines and wineries when eating at a restaurant or shopping for a group dinner. Rather than pull up my Vivino app and choose the highest rated wine from the selection, I would like to have a better internal sense of what makes a well-rated or a value-play wine.
Lastly, I would like to explore the industry more broadly. I have little experience with luxury consumer markets, especially ones with interesting regulatory aspects, so the wine industry will be a new and interesting challenge to analyze.
